The Class D Work Permit in Kenya is designed for individuals offered specific employment by a Kenyan employer, provided they possess unique skills or qualifications not available locally. This guide outlines the step-by-step process to apply for or renew a Class D Work Permit, ensuring compliance with Kenyan immigration requirements.
Gather all necessary documents, including a duly filled and signed application Form 25, a signed cover letter from the employer addressed to the Director General of Immigration Services, copies of your national passport’s bio-data page, and your current immigration status if already in Kenya. Additionally, prepare a recent colored passport-sized photo, valid Tax Compliance Certificates for the company and individual (for renewals), certified copies of academic and professional certificates, and a Curriculum Vitae for the applicant.
Provide the name and identity card of the Kenyan understudy, along with certified copies of their academic or professional certificates, full contact details (email address and cell phone), and their Curriculum Vitae.
Include the Certificate of Registration of the organization, a clearance letter from relevant institutions, and evidence that the organization attempted to fill the vacancy from the local labor market, such as proof of competitive recruitment processes.
Ensure all documents in foreign languages are translated into English by either the Embassy, a Public Notary, or an authorized or recognized institution.
Prepare the processing fee of Kshs. 20,000, which is non-refundable, and the issuance fee of Kshs. 500,000 per year. Note that applicants from East Africa Community Member States are exempt from these fees.
