How to Apply for a Class K Residence Permit in Kenya

The Class K Residence Permit is designed for individuals aged 35 and above who have a guaranteed annual income of at least USD 24,000 from sources such as pensions or annuities.   1. Complete and Sign Application Form 25

    Fill out Form 25 accurately and ensure it is signed by the applicant. This form is a critical part of the application process and must be completed without errors.

  2. Prepare a Signed Cover Letter

    Write a cover letter addressed to the Director General of Immigration Services. The letter should be signed by the applicant and explain the purpose of the application.

  3. Upload a Recent Passport-Sized Photo

    Provide a recent colored passport-sized photograph that meets the specified requirements for clarity and quality.

  4. Provide Current Immigration Status

    If the applicant is already in Kenya, include documentation of their current immigration status as part of the application.

  5. Submit Copies of National Passport

    Include clear copies of the bio-data page of the applicant’s national passport to verify identity and nationality.

  6. Provide Proof of Annual Assured Income

    Submit documentary evidence of the guaranteed annual income of at least USD 24,000. This can include pension or annuity statements, or proof of income remitted to Kenya from abroad.

  7. Pay the Required Fees

    Pay the non-refundable processing fee of Kshs. 20,000 and the issuance fee of Kshs. 250,000 per year. Note that East Africa Community Member States are exempt from these fees.
