A Dependant’s Pass is a crucial authorization for foreigners who are dependants of Kenyan citizens, permit holders, permanent residents, or exempted persons. This guide provides a clear, step-by-step process to help you navigate the application requirements and ensure a smooth submission.
Fill out and sign the application FORM 28. Ensure all sections are completed accurately and legibly to avoid delays in processing.
Address a detailed cover letter to the Director General of Immigration Services. The letter should explain the purpose of the application and provide any necessary context.
Provide a copy of the valid national passport (bio-data page) or national identity card for both the applicant and the dependant. Ensure the documents are current and legible.
Submit proof of the current immigration status for both the applicant and the dependant. This could include visa stamps, permits, or other relevant documents.
Include two current passport-sized colored photos of the dependant. Ensure the photos meet the standard requirements for official documents.
Provide documentary evidence of the relationship between the applicant and the dependant. This could include marriage certificates, birth certificates, or other legal documents.
Submit proof of sufficient and assured income to sustain both the applicant and the dependant. This could include bank statements, employment letters, or other financial documents.
Attach a sworn affidavit of incapacity or inability to sustain oneself (dependant). This document should be notarized and legally binding.
If the applicant holds a work permit, include a valid copy of the work permit with at least six months remaining before its expiry.
Submit documentary proof of the condition leading to dependency, such as a medical condition, disability, or age. This could include medical reports, disability certificates, or other relevant documents.
Pay the applicable issuance fee. For spouses and children of Kenyan citizens, the fee is Ksh 20,000. For spouses and children of work permit and permanent resident holders, the fee is Ksh 10,000. East Africa Community States are exempt from fees.
