Foreign nationals residing in Kenya for more than 90 days are required by law to register and obtain a Foreign Nationals Certificate, commonly known as an Alien Card. This guide provides a clear and concise process for completing your application, ensuring compliance with Kenyan immigration regulations.

  1. Complete the Online Application

Visit the official immigration portal at https://fns.immigration.go.ke and complete the online application form. After submission, print out Form 50 and the payment acknowledgment slip for your records.

  2. Gather Required Documents

Prepare a copy of your valid passport’s bio-data page, proof of residence (such as a permit, permanent residency, or dependent/student pass), two recent colored passport-sized photographs with a white background, and a copy of your previous Alien Card if you are renewing.

  3. Pay the Required Fee

Pay the registration fee of Ksh 1000 per year (or part thereof) as stipulated. Ensure you keep the payment acknowledgment slip as proof of payment.

  4. Book an Appointment

Schedule an appointment for the submission of your application and required documents. This can typically be done through the same online portal used for the application.

  5. Submit Your Application

On the day of your appointment, present all required documents for verification and approval. Ensure all documents are complete and accurate to avoid delays.

  6. Provide Biometric Data

During your appointment, your biometric attributes, including facial features and fingerprints, will be captured. This step is mandatory for all applicants.

  7. Receive a Waiting Slip

After submitting your application and providing biometric data, you will receive a waiting slip. This slip confirms that your application is being processed and serves as a temporary acknowledgment.

  8. Collect Your Alien Card

Once your Alien Card is ready, you will be notified via the account used to submit your application. Visit the designated office to collect your card. Note that production may take several weeks due to central processing by the National Registration Bureau.

Time Estimate: Approximately 4-6 weeks (including processing and collection)
